Microsoft Sucks

Two words...Microsoft Sucks....
The other day I pulled a system from a case to just run it on a table bare. I removed the secondary HD and replaced the DVD-ROM drive. Also changed the wireless USB adapter. Everything else remained the the same. The Primary HD with Windows Vista Ultimate remained on the system. Now when I booted up, it stated that I needed to activate windows. I then tried to activate over the internet and got the message that "The Activation key was already in use". So I had to call Microsoft. I was switched from person to person six times and after about 45 minutes., I finally got it reactivated. This is a legal upgrade copy of windows vista. Quiet a hassle I had to go through for something I paid $249.00 and only had it 4 months.


So, I look forward to day that Linux will be equal to Windows...

Depending on what specifically you are talking about, Linux is already there. Driver support... granted, Windows has that. However with some wise pre-purchasing, driver issues can be worked around. MS Office does hold the scene in heavy duty commercial business, but significant inroads are being made. There is more to the computing world that just the US, and for much of the world, MS is pricing themselves out of the market.

With Linux I can reinstall and replace data files in under a half hour without having to resort to high priced backup software, no time on phones working through the support tier level, or having to re-validate my software. With windows it is a hassle pure and simple. That same stuff pushed me over the edge and away from MS. I am now 100% linux other than 2 dual boot XP systems I maintain for the wife when she has to do business related work at home. I just got tired and fed up with all the money having to be sunk in software for each system. If Uncle Billy gets Linux legislated out of existance, then I guess I just quit the computing scene.... however there will always be an alternative to windows cause windows exists for one reason only -- and that is to suck money out of your pocket into someone else's pocket. If Bill gates really wanted to be kind, sweet, loved by all, and do good for all, he'd put NT4 into the public domain. And if he did that, he might all of a sudden see Windows really amount to something, of course not through the MS efforts.

haha, all in fun! I do agree with you, MS's activation needs to be a little smarter. we run into activation issues all the time here lol. (it is pretty funny actually)

I am thinking very seriously about going to Linux 100% if I can work out some software issues. I was thinking about getting another copy of Vista until this happened, now, NO, NO I will not buy another Microsoft product... I don't pay a premium price to someone to get hassled like this.

I called this number 1-800-765-7768 to talk with Microsoft. I am on Hold as I type this ! .~.~.~.~.~ ! Patience will see if I get another freaking Email...

I spoke with someone who said they will remove all these blasted emails once and for all, it may take up to 5 to 7 business days and then they will email me for confirmation. (I figured when they asked if I would be interested if they give me a call on my phone that I would not leave myself wide open for another barrage of sales calls that I would need to be removed from again scenario)

Linux rocks. But Microsoft is very good with the Xbox. It's restored my faith in MS as a company.

Though for computers, I'm linux over windows all the time if I can

I like Microsoft, and do all my work and programming on their software development products.

The only thing I dislike is the ammount of bugs and problems they have on their software. It gives an image of poor organization and planning by the software teams. (I know this by experience... I unfortunately work in a similar way)
