    BOINC Client

I'm still running 5.8.16 on a few boxes. Is the current 5.10.20 stable?

Do I install new BOINC over the old install?

Most of mine are still on 5.10.13, only a couple of the 5.10.20 version. No issues.

I shutdown the BOINC manager and checked that no projects were still running using Task Manager then I installed over the top.

That's what I was going to do Vaughan. I'm waiting for one machine to run down some wu's now.

Well, I have 2 boxes changed over to 5.10.20. No problems, just installed right over 5.8.16, and poof...new BOINC!

    Everything seems fine so far.

    Thanks!

I just had a BOINC Glitch.

I ran down the wu's on my XP x64 box, and downloaded the 5.10.20 software. Performed the install and poof...new BOINC. The only problem was, I kept getting a 'no work from project...' for Tanpaku??? what??

After scratching my head and banging same on the wall a few times, I found the problem. You must have guessed by now...It was a small line in the BOINC message, 'no x86_64 work...'.

Performed NEW install of straight x86 BOINC, and all was fixed.

I guess we need more x64 projects.

I do believe Tanpaku already sends out 64bit WU's (or at least 32bit to 64bit clients)

Except the official BOINC 64 bit identifies itself as x86_64 whilst the servers send it out to the clients identifying themselves as x86_AMD64 IIRC.
I saw it mentioned on the BOINC Stats forum.

Yes, we do need more x64 clients and WUs. Why ? because sooner or later all software will be x64. IMHO
