Nvidia GeForce 7300 GT

I have bought a new 19” flat wide screen and standard resolution should be 1440 x 900 pixels at 60 Hz but my Video Card have not such support only 1920 x 1440 pixels and I have tried that but all icons disappeared I.E. the dashboard become too large. I have the information below from PC Wizard 2008 that is great. (http://www.cpuid.com/pcwizard.php) I went to Nvidias homepage and they have a tool as automatically scan the Video card as is on the computer and then tells you if you need newer software. There was no need for Nvidia GeForce 7300 GT. Right now, I use 1024 x 768 at 60 Hz. Above it is much information but I do not understand all text or abbreviations. Should I be in need of a newer Video card or is it Direct X as should be a newer one or has it not to do with the lack of resolutions?

You as is expert what are your option about the GeForce video card as I have. Is it enough? I have no problem use my own settings but it is recommend use 1440 x 900.
I now read I should load the software from their CD or via their homepage. I will try that but not this evening because I have such heavy headache.

I'd say it should cope just fine. have ou tried adjusting it via right click on the desktop, then properties, then settings and movind the slider?

I have done both. But as I said in my first message there was no need upgrade. Then 900 x 1440 isn´t there when I use the slid. I think I must have Vista as have so mych more alternative. ¨
The reseller chowed all alternatives Vista had and there settings for LCD creens af type flat and wide.

But perhaps I shall go to the page of Nvidia and check for a more current file if they had any. Will try that.

Were you using a different monitor on that system or is the widescreen the first one installed?

On XP systems I have seen this problem when a new monitor replaces another. I have had success going to Device Manager and deleting all monitors and video cards listed then rebooting and letting Windows find them again.

It seems when Windows recognizes the new monitor and "new" video card it configures new display options including different resolutions the new monitor has that didn't exist with the old monitor.

My company doesn't have any Vista boxes yet (they must be listening to me), so I'm not sure this will work on Vista.

Yes BobCat13, you are right. I had one 17" monitor before I changed to my current 19" wide screen. After I had installed the monitor XP didn´t feel of it as a plug and play unit. I had to manually search after a plug and play monitor. After that I had to go to LG´s homepage and download their drivers and that replaced the plug and play name it had to a proper name.

Then I downloaded and installed a new driver for XP and media center but it was so bad I had to reinstall my old as was mych better.

Lather I played with the buttons on the monitor and happen to puch on a button as reset the screen to factory settings and when it happened the monitor automatically set the resolution to 900 x 1440 and override my choise of 1024 x 768 so now all is good and myself calm and satisfied.

Afterwards I read in the manual what I not knew: When monitor power turned on, the "Self Image Setting Function" is executed automatically. Bad of me not read their instructions.

Am is writing this on my oldest computer (9 year) as have a ATI RagePro video card at 4 MB and the picture is of very good quality and sharp. I have 3 computers as chare on 1 monitor. It is almost better than my newest Nvidia GeForce GT. You as read this perhaps not will beleive it but am is honest. It fill nearly the whole screen more than Nvidia as have a large gap on both sides when I´m online checking AMDusers. Fantastic so old and weak card can compete against the newest I have. On my AMD64 I have a Nvidia GeForce 6600.

Chould I guess ATI video card is little better than Nvidia?

I dont know if they're better, but what i do know is that my ati radeon 9800 Pro kicked an Nvidia 6600's ass at far cry and such
