no surprise here. plus there will be no comparison when both chips are overclocked to their respective max values. I have a intel q6600 OC to 3.6 ghz, right now, I'll be lucky to get 2.6 from a Bercelona, the new phenons? who know yet. The intel quads will still be the pants off the amd quads I bet. I'm already reading that as far as the AMD quad barcelona goes. Add to this that the price will still be higher for the AMD quads, and you have a slim reason for a massive sell from AMD. Sad. AMD needs to get on the ball asap.

I think AMD has lost their focus. The reason that many of us got into AMD was the fact that with a little knowledge and work on our part we got a chip that gave us a great value and a lot of "bang for our buck". It seems that now they are trying to compeate with Intel on a level playing field (the priceing sure bears this out) and they are comming up lacking. The last intel I had was a PII and I hate to say it but the way it looks now my next system will have Intel inside.

For the price and for crunching the Intel Q6600 can't be beat. I have 2 now with a third on tab for ordering. At one time, all I had was AMD and until AMD gets off the pot I will continue to buy Intel quads. I still like AMD but Intel whips the pants off them right now..

And not to forget that intel is supposed to be selling their new 45 thickness chips in 90 days, like 90 days that you can actually touch one. And not any reason to doubt that it will blow the socks off the new amd stuff.

Not to forget also that performance wise, amd is also supposed to be selling their new two thousand dollar video card........... of course I don't look for any volume sales on that to save amd's butt. Something happened within amd management. don't know what, but something had to have, cause this isn't the same old amd. As one of the members said in another thread, it looks like amd is going the way of the Dodo bird. And I guess I'm gonna help it cause I'm off to pick up a Q6600 today. Just got tired of waiting for amd to release all this new "killer" stuff. Sigh................. I guess the only thing they are releasing now-days are "vapor chips." ..... and while the price on vapor chips is really great, they don't crunch worth a $h*t.

Yup now I know how all the Beta Video recorder owners felt. They had better audio and video but just couldn't keep up.

LOL ------- good way to put it. I'd forgotten about the Beta video recorder format and all those beta format tapes I ended up with.

And it's also looking like the same thing is gonna happen with the DVD stuff too, as the Blue Ray stuff is sure increasing in volume...
