    Temperature

I have found this on the forum of Asus regarding Intel P5B motherboard socket 775.

    Question.

If I enable PECI in BIOS, the CPU temperature detected by BIOS will drop down much, why?

    Answer.

PECI is the Platform Environment Control Interface, it is the technology which can detect CPU temperature detaily. If BIOS enable it, it will show the exact CPU temperature, so the value may drop.

What will this tell us? Is it so that the temperature in reality is lower than our utility tools shows?

That short answer does point to that conclusion indeed, but I never heard about that PECI feature, so I can't tell for sure.
