It is very interesting about the weather on different places. Some places has Winter climate another has summer, other places has different types of weather. We as live on the 60th latitude (me) have often a wite Christmas while another latitudes have a green Christmas.

For me it should feel strange have a Christmas whitout snow.

    What is snow?

When it snow, the snowflakes grown to ice crystals as become a lump on its way from the clouds. They can contain 1-1000 ice crystals. One ice crystal is one millimetres big and contains of millions and billions of water molecules. The ice crystal is born into the clouds as a six angular crystal plate around one dirt particle. The crystal grow when it pass through the cold air. The colder it is the faster grow the ice crystal. Also a different temperature makes the crystal to grow on different ways. Below -15 degree new arms are created on the crystal, as a star. Over -15 below zero new six angular plates are created. Because the ice crystals take different ways, they all become unique like we peoples.

Beerknurd, when the snow reaches the earth it comes in a form like flakes. It can snow and the flakes are very small but also large. Large flakes fill the surface fast and it can snow so hard so during the night we can get 20-30 cm and more. If it blows hard the snow can create snowdrifts. When it happen much of the snow is on one place and the rest of the surface have lesser snow.

Wet snow is very tough and hard to remove. But wet or dry it is always white and good for skiing and both small boys and girls runs their small sledges down a moderate hill.
Many get skis as Christmas present and if we not have any snow they got disappointed.

One hand with dry snow is very light. Is the snow wet it is easy take a handful snow and make a snowball of it or a snowman. We have something as we call “Snowballs war” when the youngest makes snowballs and throw it on to each other.

Hope it help you understand little what snow is

Global Warming is a fact. It is caused by heat generated by computers. Those who crunch harder, generate more warming ...

I've never seen a white Christmas. Usually brown due to drought.

    How many degrees

Gee I wish I had a generator, this evening we lost the Electricity for just over 3 hours. Ice Storm hit us pretty hard, there has been no wind, just rain for 10 hours at 0°C. Everything is beautiful except the pine trees are hanging very low, then they snap and take out the wires from the power company, It seems our trees on our street took out about 80 homes in the South Eastern Part of our town, I just hope no one starts blaming us for having trees.
I called the outage bliss, no TV, noise from humming computers, just people conversing with talk, I propped a small flashlight on my shoulder and read a book for an hour.

Such piece and quiet, I suggested doing this tomorrow evening and they all looked at me funny!

Vaughan and Doomeva might just see his Christmas white, at least this weekend as the northeast is expecting a category 4 snow storm if all the weather models are on target.

I just finished shoveling the snow out of our drive. Only a few inches of fresh powder, but I needed the exercise. It's a calm night, around 18 F.

Winter is great when it's like this.
