    IBM QS20

It's started, the advent of the Cell processor has begun!

IBM have just released their QS20 blade based on 2 x 3.2GHz Cell processors rated at ~410Gigaflops  with a maximum of 7 of these in a BladeCenter chassis you'll get 2.8Teraflops!!!:shock: and then fill a rack up with these Bladecenters and you'll get ~17Teraflops

They will currently run happily with Fedora 5 Linux so they'll be BOINC'able :D

Each blade costs RRP$18,995 so start saving!

Needless to say I've been working out how to fund a rack load of these and have decided to sell my Wife and kids to the highest bidder on ebay - once they're outta the way I'll sell the house and cars!
    ;)

I'm keeping my present Boincing setup! ...however the youngest kid is milk cooled and the other has been overclocked a bit too much and often runs at 110% for 12hours a day ...the Wife!!! well lets just say she has volatile memory but has a great general purpose instruction set!

Your humor is out of this world, Blackheath!

I especially liked the photograph on page 6, similar to the x86 NOT!

I just bought 9 QS20s and 1 QS21 on eBay for the price of a couple of Playstation3s, but now I'm looking at costs for what I need to get these to be fully operating (bladecenter chassis, infiniband cables and switche, at least 4x 2000-watt power, et al)...

    So...

Still looking to trade the wife and kids?
