    4 Watt CPU

Low power demand CPU's are getting new interest since the Eee PC has blossomed around the world. So Intel figures they can help with this little gem. While your ready imagine a whole fleet of these (If cost effective) that would equal less then the total E-Energy bill you are paying for just one light bulb.

They key to it is going to be the cost. I for instance you can go purchase the duals at a cost less than comparable horsepower higher wattage cpu's, then it should fly very well for just a plain non-fancy desktop/portable. I would much rather have a flock of low wattage systems if I could get comparable horsepower for less electricity than what I currently use. The question remains as to whether or not that is possible/realistic looking at a total cost basis, ie cost of hardware as well as cost of operation.

I liked the author's quote of Richard Feynman regarding "There's plenty of room at the bottom."

This is because Diamondville processors will come soldered directly onto specially designed boards.
Sounds like someone wants to move in on Via's ground.

It's interested me. Espcially as I've found my low power server isn't as low power as I would like it (30W is fine but I'd prefer lower... besides my server doesn't crunch cos it's only a 533Mhz Via chip and it's not great at it...)

is kinda interesting to me as well cpu runs at 1.6ghz makes me wonder what sort of fpu and int value it will generate might work out as a cheap way to crunch in regards to power usage

I want to see what it's like for a desktop machine. I quite fancy getting a low power linux based browser machine. Except it kinda defies the point as my quad would still be on crunching. lol.
