    Flaky Dimes Stats

Dimes is starting to go down alot. In the past few weeks they have been extremely flaky... It's really irritating...

I dunno...I really question their ability to use the info we have discovered for them, what have they done with any of it since they started?? I still run it like every other weekend but I haven't seen where they are working with it.....other than collecting it.

    hi BlackAdder

I was wondering about that myself.

    What we already knew:

The "Science" link on the dimes website refers to a number of scientific papers related to the project from 2001 through 2005.

The project author has a further paper circa 2005

That is referenced from the public data page where the collated data is made available to the scientific community on a monthly basis.

A number of visualizations in 2D and 3D (3D requiring additional plugin download and install) were created and are available. Since then a Google API 2D network model has also been built and is available.

But the last reference found directly related to the site was in 2005.

    Further study found:

Although there does not seem to have been much activity on the site, the data is being referenced by other recent network topology studies.

So I'll keep plugging away while it is still useful.

The only reason I'm running it is because it uses virtually no CPU activity. Also, in regards to the connection issues they keep having, I believe the latest version of the Dimes Agent (0.5.0) will continue to run "dummy" addresses even if their main site is inaccessible.
