    So there I was...

cruising through the local Circuit City, and just happened to go by the computers, and the Phenom quad and triple core systems were there. So being totally ignorant on the phenoms, and not wanting to get hassled to death by all the bored sales people just standing around cause of an extreme paucity of customer, I just kept on ambling past them. So now I'm wondering if anyone has purchased one of the new triple cores and put it to work crunching anything... like maybe d2ol per chance? Just wondering how they pan out as compared to the earlier phenom quads. Anyone tried any of either that they care to talk about?

    Cool

naw, I'm made it a policy not to buy anything less than 4 core cpu's now. No point in downgrading

    I dunno about that.
Ghz-for-the-buck it fits in the picture - from the pharmers point of view.

/me still trying to figure out how to bank-roll my next one...one of these days...sigh

Bang for buck but what about Watts per Ghz? Surely watts + bang = better with 4 cores? As espcially as I've seen the 3 core phenoms are similiar in power draw to Intel Q6600.

So where are they sitting performance-wise then with the high current draw?
