Question for all racers...I posted a while back about the snowstorm knocking our power out which crashed my hdd. I had to reinstall everything and start over, and it looked like it used the same computer host ID, but evidently it created a new one. I tried to merge the new one to the old one, but instead just the opposite happened, merged the old one to the new ID. I've already lost 1 1/2 days of crunching but I'd still like to be in the race. How would you guys feel about letting me use that ID? If not, I understand, rules are rules.

Hi Ramjet, what your suggesting doesn't hurt my feelings. I've had to format under similar conditions myself.... anyone else have a opinion ??

My host id also got wiped just this morning after I formatted the PC.
I was careful to keep a copy of all the boinc folders, and all the stuff, but I forgot to give the same name to the machine again and I think that's what made it not recognize the same host id after.

I'm ok with it and I'll even join Ramjet too, and change my own host number if no one minds.

Boy, another 6 inches of snow today, we are now double our average for this year. I don't know if I will be able to keep this thing running for a whole month straight. I guess if the new host id is a go, I'll have to play with the OC and see if I can do some catching up. My poor opty already has a pretty orange glow to it.

Absolutely, I can hold my own when Windows crashes, but I'm as green as can be with Linux, I can put the disk in and click Install, but when problems arise like I just had, I am lost, it's a whole new world....thus the day and a half to get back up and running.
