Verizon FIOS Sucks - False Advertising

They exclaim that the Bundle is just $99.90 and when you receive the first bill the price tag is a shocker at over $150.00.... I am not a happy camper!

Made a call to those idiots and it looks like this is the price tag each month. I think if you portray your actions as false it is illegal in the business world that is.. Even a big company can come tumbling down with such CRAP....

They must be like Cox cable, my local provider. They don't include all the extra fees and taxes with their advertised rate. This sounds like the same practice.

Hummm.... we still don't have this in my town yet, thanx for the heads up. I was told a while back that when FIOS is installed the installers remove any copper wiring you had to your phone...not for the copper but to maki it that much harder to get your old phone service back. Nflight did that happen to you ??

They removed the copper wiring up to the house, not in the house. You can still have the copper wiring put back in place if you want to. I am going to be talking to the FTC about complaints of this nature today. FTC = Federal Trade Commission. Then I may just plaster there horrible position on the BBB as well; BBB = Better Business Bureau. And everywhere else I can make them writhe in pain from this behavior.

sorry to hear that Nflight. It is very frustrating to be nailed with these charges that your not told about. I'm not sure how good of an idea it is to have angry customers because of your taxes and fees that you leave out of the price.

After speaking to the representative today, it seems the actual charges will be near $123.oo each month. Now why and how do they get away with that $99.90 offer?

sorry, guys, but i must defend "the big bad company" ...

now, i don't work for Verizon; cable is a bit different.

the install fee (which sometimes can be waived, depending on the company) merely gets the tech out. will run cable from box/drop to house. the company has policies in place as to how many (if any) outlets they'll check ("existing outlets") and how many new ones they'll install for free, if any. "wall fishes" can be extra, too.

they're not psychic. it's sorta your responsibility to know a little about what's needed ahead of time (not easy if it's your first time getting said "different" service (ie, like going voip from POTS, but that's easier)).

again, this is coming from someone working for "some" cableco, so YMMV with FIOS.

my friend with Verizon FIOS has mentioned no issues. i'll ask him how his install went, any additional fees, etc.

also, did you read the fine print? make any changes from exactly what was in the 99.99 package? i guess i know exactly what to look for when it comes to advertisements, having worked for one. our company keeps it simple, but we have lists of offers other companies are making, and some of them are pretty sleezy. installs of $50-200, wii (with a contract), disconnection fees. my fave is Comcast's fee to upgrade (which i can understand for cable, but not for internet or phone! jeezy creezy...) or downgrade.

also, i take names, operator IDs/numbers if i talk them into a special deal (like waiving a ridiculous install fee to a slightly less ridiculous one).

    sorry, hindsight is 20/20.

i wish i had FIOS (verizon, even) and their 30/10 or 30/30 really bad. no effing bw caps (tho i've never exceeded mine .. yet). upstream (for a majority) in the US/Can/AU/NZ is a joke.

NFLIGHT, I had the same damn problem with verizon fios. I ordered the "99/month" package, and the first bill they sent me, they charged over $200.00, ripoff? that's an understatement. This company is fraudulent and i hope everyone boycotts this company. This company needs to be brought to court. After my final bill payment, they sent me another "final bill" charging me for a service i disconnected months ago over a period i did not obviously use. I'm all for class action lawsuit, i have proof of their fraudulent business methods and i hope the thousands of other people will unite to shut these bunch of pirates, im sorry "company" to justice.

Thank you for feeling the same way I do, Randy. There is some solace after continually bitching at this company about the over charging they have lowered the price down to ...drum roll please. A whopping $119 a month, not $99 as they advertised. but at least they explained the misuse issue I have placed into there realm with my large downloads for some of my BOINC Projects. OK so I am a little guilty at being a whore in that respect but hey its what we do, This is DC-ing ! Right?
