It's all in fun mate. It doesn't matter anyhow, Plonk is stomping us both.

grr, 955 race quad looks like it blue-screened and rebooted only to then freeze while windows was loading. I turned the OC down a bit but it's too late for this race to matter.

word of wisdom to future races, always thoroughly test an overclock setting on new hardware before leaving machine to race unattended.

this is MY first time overclocking, ever. it wouldn't surprise me if something blew up between now and just after the contest (whether or not i win) :S

...already fixed ONE potential(y dangerous to hardware) problem

I believe one of the best stress tests for OC'ed machines is the Prime95 app, from the Gimps project. I remember trying it and it did raise the cpu temps quite a bit. And I think there was a multi-core app based on it, altough I can't remember the name now.
It really stress tests the cpu/cache/ram system. If the results your machine calculates are not equal to the pre-calculated results, then you have problems, even if you don't get blue screens.

Yup Plonk went from 3318/7513 flops/integer in the first race to 3774/8532 flops/integer recently. I hope he has some good fans or AC.

you can really see the difference between cpu's, I got him beat on integer but he smokes me on flops. 3017/9318

yup, and I think it's the flops that really counts with these project types of scientific computations.

nothing OBSCENELY large... did you have any issues with the stock Intel HSF? it was a complete and utter failure for me. never had a CPU maker's HSF be as useless as the intel one for the 920...
