So what are you using for virus scanners? I have been using AVG in the past, but they have jacked their prices up and for multiple copies it's getting too expensive. But then everything is getting too expensive.

just using avgfree here
I have used AVG for several years, but recently I had a problem with my web pages loading due to it's network scanner. I am now using Microsore's " security essentials " which are free. It's spyware scanner even caught some items Spybot didn't catch....but I don't seem to get a lot of bugs anyway...
AVG free is OK but you have to manually update it .
My free AVG version is 9.0 and it updates itself. Never had a problem with it.
BTW, it's running on W7.
Darkness isn't there, but you can't see through it
I'm running Trend Micro paid version on two Win 7 64-bit PCs. Seems OK so far but only installed one month ago.
AVG free on one PC, seems OK too.
AVG Business Edition on 10 PCs, OK too but don't really know what extra you get for the paid version compared to Free. I have used Customer Support on a couple of occaions and they responded in less than 2 hours (business hours) so I thought that was pretty slick
My business laptop has Symantec Endpoint Protection as that is supplied by work. I never see it pop up any warning messages. To be frank, I don't even know if it does anything eg. I have never seen it run a scan of my computer or say its checking an email or a new application. If its "on" then its very quiet.
Some other systems on Linux Gentoo 64 and my Sys Admin (my son) says "pfft ya don't need antivirus shite sucking resources from your crunchers."
Thats about the way I look at crunchers too anymore. Running a farm on windows gets pretty expensive.
Yea, if the machines are solely for crunching and only go around the project's websites they'll hardly (if ever) catch a virus.
EDIT: Unless of course if you're running WinXP pre-SP2... that has some really big security holes in it.
