I am sorry I have been missing this post... We are in a competition of sorts? And do I have to sign up any where or just switch over to a certain project at this time... Some feedback please... Sorry my mind has been somewhere else lately will explain later!

I really am having troubles with the new look and feel of the forum.

    My gripes are :-

    * I hate the black look, too Goth; I much preferred the old style/theme.

    * Performance is woefully slow. It takes at least 30 seconds to load the index page then when I click to go check out any new posts its another wait and see session.

    * Its really hard to find what is new amid the myriad of "banned xyz" posts.

I don't visit as often now because of the above.

    Vaughan -

If you'd like to find someone to retheme the website, please feel to do so. This is what my gfx guy came up with. Changing themes is a painstaking process.

I do not share the performance issues with you.

I've removed the Moderator's forum from the recent threads list.

I was thinking about the "banned" threads problem too... I know I've been causing plenty of it. Sorry guys.

I was thinking we could merge them all in one thread and just keep posting on that thread instead of the traditional one thread per ban system that we follow.

p.s.: I too noticed a slowdown on the performance of the website, but I guess with major changes also come major requirements. It might depend on where you are and what internet connection you have... I think it's not as bad to me because I am now closer to it. (I moved to the USA just this year ) I wonder if I would share the same problem as vaughan if I was still in Portugal...

Can any AMD Users out there, outside the USA, tell how slow the site is to you please?

p.s. 2: I believe one of the major components of the slowdown is the cpu hogging banner... I can't understand why one banner can take so much cpu when there are sites almost 100% flash made that run great... After we take that out of the equation we will have to see how things run then.

The flash banner was removed last night. I also made some rendering changes that should help with loading.

I never had any performance problem with the site, though.

I guess the main problem now would be the theme. If anyone knows how to theme VB4, PM me.

Yes I also prefer the old Theme, the Black goth look is annoying at best! That was also one of my big draws was the Green Theme fits into the realm of AMD Users.. Since I am in the energy industry anything green is in...!!!

Please note I am now seeing the page load much faster here on the East Coast of the US. There was some slowness but it has disappeared now. I thought it could have been the 7 projects I am trying to run on dual cores ~ silly me!

Challenge me, or correct me, but don't ask me to die quietly.

Yup, site loads faster here too now. Vaughan, try the site now and see how good/bad it is.

I agree the theme is somewhat darker than we were used to, but I like it. I'm not one to belong to the "dark side" but I prefer darker shades of colors than lighter. But that's a personal preference, everybody got their own...
Plus I don't know if it's true but I like to believe that dark colors make the monitor use less energy, so we are now an energy saving website.

pages runs MUCH better now, I had installed a flash blocking plugin for firefox and that helped as well until I seen all the other sites that no longer worked because of it. and I agree the dark is TOO dark for my liking.
