Holographic data storage - 1 Petabyte in 1 CD!

This would be a revolution if it came out anytime in the next 10 years!

Another holographic hopeful has emerged, Storex Technologies, which claims its Hyper CD technology can produce a 1PB optical disk.
    ...
"The company holds patents on glass and glass-ceramics compositions as well as read/write mechanics and optics concept(s) applicable to high-density data storage. Using commercially available low power lasers and optics, capacities of more than 1,000,000 GB (1 PB) can be achieved using a CD size disk of 120mm in diameter and 1.2mm thick."

If this technology is actually real, what I personally think is going to happen is that much like the renewable energy technology breakthroughs are killed off by the oil companies, the large hard drive manufacturers will buy out this technology and its patent rights and store it in the shelf because they don't want newcomers disturbing their peaceful business of ripping off people with outrageous prices.
