    AMD Phenom II X6 1090T

OK so has anybody got one yet?
What motherboard etc etc are you using?

I read that the choice is really between the ASUS Crosshair IV Formula and the Gigabyte GA-890FXA-UD7.

I have one of the X6 chips and was hoping it would work in my k9a2 platinum originally. I went with the MSI FXA890-GD70 and it seems like a nice board. I have a few other MSI boards that I liked so I stuck with MSI. I'm a little unhappy they didn't get the support for the K9a2 Platinum yet. I hear they are working on it and it's in beta, but should be out soon. We have four of these boards crunching with various quad cores and would like to update them in the future. I know the chipset isn't as good in the K9a2 Platinum, but how much does it matter for crunching? I believe lots of motherboards support this chip now going back to the AM2+ stuff. You just have to check your many AMD boards you have crunching to see how many you can upgrade ;)

The phenom 2 x6 is only 300$ at newegg. It is going to be a part of my future desktop.

For around that same value you can also get a ATI Radeon HD 5850, it's not the absolute top of the line, but it's one hardcore cruncher!

I started plotting this new confuser when the X6 came out. Took me a while.

But, I do as much crunching as 3 of my X2, with less power, and beats my AMD quad+dual gpu (G92) for output, also for less power....
