Pushing the limits with AMD GPUs

I love it when someone takes things that little bit further than you thought it could go:
    http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1357/3/

Now that's one HONKING GOOD video card!

PS - per the article, the pack includes "a CrossFireX interconnect for those that dare CrossFire the ARES". More than one????

At 572 watts under load, I'm not sure I'd want to have two of those, would be nice to see the total current draw with two of those crunching though. Can you imagine the output of two of those though? My 5770 cranks out a Collatz wu in under 10 minutes already.

I don't think it would be worth it unless you setup 4 in crossfire.

ha ha ha. You are being funny.

"Notice that the card is thicker than a traditional dual-slot graphics card, so be ready for one of these cards to take up three slots on your motherboard!"
    They take 3 slots each.
I don't think I have seen a board anywhere with 12 slots that would let you CrossFire 4 of those at once.
It would be more than a little awesome though.

water blocks would be a must for these cards... then you could say good bye water heater....your not needed anymore with 4 of these. I think my MSI board has 5 PCI-e slots. I think it would fit 4 with water blocks, but not sure how well crossfire would work. It would be great for GPU crunching and providing heat for water heating.

Some lads got a bit bored and slapped together 4 NVidia GTX480s on an XL-ATX mobo
    http://www.atomicmpc.com.au/News/223...t-rumbled.aspx

That mobo might just be right to tie together 4 ARES without their lids on.

How are we going with the R&D on the domestic fusion power plant?

Pushing the Limits with AMD GPUs

So what we really needed was a server for GPU's and someplace we could fit more then 4 cross fire units in one system; FOUND IT ! The Main page, sorry for the drooling, http://content.dell.com/us/en/enterp...t-servers.aspx

The closer look at what this top notch whiz bang looks like: http://www.dell.com/content/products...=us&l=en&s=biz

Oh and the spec sheet for those of us who will pray the Lottery Ferry picks me on tonight's drawing, Pick me pick me! http://www.dell.com/downloads/global...s-specs-en.pdf

Yes I know they are designed for Nvidia, But ATI's would look and work so much better wouldn't they?
