    WUProp@home - credits for jam

    WUProp@Home

We are about to pass 750K today and we are in rank #11.

This is hardly surprising since there are so few members signed up to this project.

We have been running it for a good while now and there are no problems to speak of.

You only get 1 wu per BOINC client and it is a time limited WU.

At the end of 12 hours it gathers data on how well your machine crunched the WUs on the rest of your active projects on that machine over the 12 hour period.

The combined results of all project WU's and machine architectures is available on the project website.

This is really useful because before you jump on a project you can look at the WUProp results and see how fast an equivalent machine is processing the work units for that project and that info can help you decide which machine to run which project on.
    Very handy really.

It sits in the background on the BOINC Client using almost no CPU at all and you still get credits.

    What is not to like?

Come on. Do yourself a favour in 2011 and join the team on WUProp.

My only wish is that they would give more credits, it's only 25 credits per workunit, which means 50 credits/day (per machine).

But then again it's a non-computing intensive project, doesn't use any bandwidth, so I guess you can't ask that many credits for it.

I'm in with 2 machines, trying to keep up with the rest of the gang.

I'm running this on six machines, and as it is a non-intensive application it just adds up to the projects you are already running. So when you have a GPU and a dual-core (or hyperthreaded) machine you can run four WUs at the same time, one one the GPU, two on the CPU and WUProp at no perceptible performance loss.
