AmdTI and gaming (anyone have driver issues?)
so ... multiple people i know "on the internets" have complained about ATI/AMD and bad drivers (maybe with cutting edge games). has anyone experienced this? i haven't ...with a caveat.
there was a while where i didn't really play cutting edge games, but i've started to get back into them as graphics are just now starting to get interesting again. also, i usually play them on pretty old drivers (usually lagging by 3-6 months)
here's what i've tried on launch day and had no issues:
NFS: Shift
NFS: HP2010 (first month)
Supreme Commander 2
Starcraft II
Crysis 2 demo (first week or two)
3DMark11
my ONLY issues, i will admit, are Demonscene demos.
here's the only one that comes to mind, currently: http://pouet.net/prod.php?which=54920 (Haujobb's Youshould)
anywho, to the point: anyone had any drivers issues with cutting edge games?

none from my end.
SC-II, DOD, COD, WoW, Nexuiz, OA, FG etc. all play nicely
Only some 'clipping' when we push the res up across multi-screens
(because ya really CAN see that traitor sneaking up out of the corner of your eye!)
We have had backward compatibility issues with older games though but that is (sadly) expected
Some people are putting very high spec cards into really poor mobos and/or poorly spec'd h/w and expecting nirvana.
I sometimes speculate that unfortunately those are the very people who would not recognize nirvana if they accidentally stepped on it.
Extreme coolness takes commitment, understanding and ZEN.
