    LHC++@Home (new boinc project)

    This seems to be a test project from the LHC fellows...

    LHC++@Home is based at CERN and uses the CERN-developed CernVM and BoincVM systems to harness volunteer cloud computing power for the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) physics experiments. We will host several sub-projects as we work with different physics groups.

    The Test4Theory@Home sub-project seeks to engage volunteers in theoretical physics computations for the LHC at CERN. The project allows participants to run simulations of particle collisions on their home computers.

    This seems to be complicated... it involves virtual machines and whatever else... I don't think I'm ready for this one just yet...

    Your right NeoGen, too much for me! I can only muster some available space for projects right now I can't muster installing anymore software on my main system at this time.... Liuqyn You will take this and pass me, Have Fun!

    Challenge me, or correct me, but don't ask me to die quietly.

    No good for my setup as I'm running VMware Fusion 3.1.1 on my MacBookPro so I can run Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

    can you run a VM inside your win7 VM?
    that would be amusing.

    The linux AMD64 arch install looks to be a challenge, but I run QEMU/KVM on my linux boxen and have a lot running on them atm.

    I'm downloading the VBox 4.1.x version to my Win7 laptop where I can give it a go in the short term.
    Hope I get it done before the door closes.

    230+ MB d/l - it is a virtual machine image after all, so not a great surprise. Actually quite small considering.

    162 hours initial estimate.
    "waiting to start" due to other work I'm clearing out of the cache.
