Here is a link to the official Seventeenorbust forum where VJS explains how to attempt recovery when you lose a test:

    good recovery plan

Yes. Excellent to have a recovery plan.

I did not even know to check the # of pending tests. It seems that I have 2 (1 in progress + another)

After reading the notes...Sure enough there is another test file in the SB dir. and even better...my log file still has the n & k #'s for it. So I will have a head start in recovering it.....when I finally get the other test finished...
I'm still at 50.5% completed after 8.4 days. (2687 overall, 31 in the team)

I will start sving my pennies for a CPU upgrade and some more RAM. It seems my M/b can take upto an XP 2600. What will I do with myself ?!

Here is a cool tool that I found on the SOB forum about lost proth tests. It updates your registry so you don't have to. "Beware" It does edit your registry. Make sure you read the ReadMe.txt. I tested it and it worked great.

Here is a link to the forum. The download link is below the line.

Here is the quote from the forum posted by Sceptic

As suggested by Mystwalker, I have made a tool for changing the registry entries in an easy way.
    Download it here.

    Download

The ZIP-file contains two files: RegChanger.exe and ReadMe.txt.
To run the tool, just open the ZIP-file and run it from there or run it from wherever you extracted the files.

Instruction on how to use it, is found in the ReadMe-file. There is also a small HowTo accessible from within the tool.

I've borrowed the instructions that vjs presented in an earlier post (Hope you don't mind, vjs )

Feedback is always nice, so please contact me at --> sceptic@team-norway.org <-- if you have any suggestions, bug reports, questions etc.. etc..

beer maybe you should try this on 17 seeing as you have just lost nearly 1 Terabyte of work.

i have had a similar problem and got a - 300,000 on my score, i have found the offending computer and found i got it as i sent in the last test and hit 100%- in the log i have the line
    // Completed proth test () result 3.

i take it i havent lost the unit seeing as it was totally completed, why the minus on sending then ???

There was a scoring problem. The problem has been resolved. What I have now is correct.

It's unfortunate, but I'll get it back up.
