AMD Brazos/Ontario hardware

So... these new low power solutions from AMD have been out for a few months, and it looks like it has somewhat good adoption.

For example, I happened to come across with MSI's WindPad 110W, which is a tablet like so many others out there, but with Windows on it, and I really wish I had $600 to spare right now, because it looks neat!

It is based on the AMD Z01 series APU, which packs a 1GHz dual core CPU, Radeon HD 6250, and has a TDP of 9W or less!
I especially like this tablet because it runs Windows 7, which means I can run anything I want on it!


On a different topic I have also been watching the unveiling of several low power motherboards/APU's. one of which that caught my interest... the Jetway JNF81-T56N-LF.

This one is based on the AMD Hudson E1 platform, which was supposed to be used on embedded devices, but good thing the JetWay guys created a Motherboard for the public. It sports a dual core 1.6GHz CPU, and Radeon HD 6310 graphics, with a TDP of only 18W. What caught my eye on it was that it had 5 SATA ports, plus 1 mSata... I'm thinking this would be awesome to build a small low powered home NAS, say for example with 5x 3Tb HDDs for storage and 1 40Gb mSATA SSD.

What do you guys think of this new generation of (very) low powered devices?

There are 12 core CPUs out there already (see the Opteron 6000), so it's just a matter of time until they perfect them to work in low voltage
