VIA K8T800 compatibility issue
Just a word of warning. I found out the hard way today that if you are running an Athlon64 on an MSI K8T NEO mobo, The VIA chipset is incompatible with the new GEFORCE 6600 GT AGP card. Myself and my pc spent several hours with the vendor today proving i wasnt full of BS. Since the mobo costs less than the video card, they offerd to replace my mobo with one that uses the n-force chipset. We will have to see how that goes next week. Anyway this was just a freindly warning so no one else finds this out the hard way.

Thanks - I have the A8V and was thinking of getting 6800 OC, so hope same doesn't apply there! I am sure I have read of A8V owners getting 6800 though. It has the VIA K8T800Pro chipset. So did u get the K8N NEO2?

They had to order it. it is supposed to be here monday. I am going to keep my fingers crossed. From the research i have done since i got home it looks like the K8N NEO 2 is a much better board than the K8T NEO FISR2 board that I had anyway.

what made you go for that board as oppose to any other then ???
-
Well the board I really wanted was the Neo2
. I love N-Force, and was using the A7N8X, but I went A64-939 back in June and the MSI just never came out. I had a A643500 sitting in a box and no MB, so went A8V. I have not had any problems with it and have always had Asus so ok with it, but like I said if both had been out at same time, I'd have gone Neo2 and NForce.

I use the MSI K8M Neo-V because it has on board VGA, I don't play games so graphics not important

Bill / others what games are you playing now?
Here:
(In game name usually Spore)
Battlefield 1942 - Desert Combat
UT2004
Doom3
HL2 (soon)

i dont suppose you have a crack for battlefield, jeff.
It wouldnt copy on my system and so far the cracks i havd downloaded dont work. i dont have the disk anymore but it is still installed - as well as "secret weapons of WW2" and "Desert Combat"

Well there was a patch last week, so it maybe a few days before no cd is out.

I don't use, but Game Copy World probably has links, etc.
