The PARIS Project - From the pub to space and back

This is one of those times when you would have thought "Pppppht!." or "Naaaaah." and instead you end up going "OH!" and "WHoooooooooo!"

For those of you who have, like me, been living under a rock, you may be familiar with the PARIS project.
No. It is not a Distributed Computing project, but it has everything to do with the mindset.

The PARIS project 'allegedly' grew from a pub napkin idea into a practical challenge to do something outlandish in some form of a scientific way.
A while after the idea was scratched out around some beer stains, the team demonstrated genuine interest in the practicality of getting the project off the ground.
They then attracted the interest and support of others and even developed a design and testing program that would ensure a successful mission.

I have to say that I am proud of the success achieved by the PARIS team.
I am stoked to pass on this link to the video compilation of their achievement.

Given the extremity of the challenge that the team put their shoulders to and the 'much better than probable' outcome, this is an outstanding success.

AMD Users tips our hats to the PARIS Team.

    Well done, PARIS!
    Not bad at all.

Very nice indeed! Congrats to the PARIS team!
The fact they were able to recover both aircraft and mechanism intact is amazing in itself, and shows that a lot of planning was put into it.
I wish we could see more footage from the flight or maybe the trajectory it took until it reached the ground. I bet with those high altitude winds it must have been gliding left and right!
