    external/local domain problem

Having set up a windows 2000 server with active directory and as a DNS server with domain.com as the root. Clients connecting to the server can connect to any web site they like except www.domain.com this ends up with a page not found error.

What have I done wrong and how do I modify the server to allow them access to the external www.domain.com.

I have installed a port redirector on port 80 but this did not work.

    Many thanks for any suggestions

the server points its DNS to be local address and the gateway is the address of the router

Checked with a buddy that works more with issues like this and he sent the following.....

Making it the .com of his domain makes AD setup that as a local domain.
So references are to the local box if they're using it for dns.

2 things I can think of to fix it. If he's not too deep in rebuild the
domain and make it a domain.local, not com.

Otherwise he can go into the dns server on the box and try to alter the
domain, or point his clients to another box for dns on the net that's
    not part of the domain.
    That help at all?
