    Fx8150

Just wondering if anyone had a FX8150 with the liquid cooling and if you do then what do you think of it?

I have an 8350 without the water cooling kit, but added an aftermarket water cooler. I mostly use mine to feed gpu work units on WCG. I'm not sure how the CPU performs on work units.

Please also run WuProp (nci project, non-cpu intensive thus) on that machine, so we all see how well it performs soon!
This is what is known about the FX-8350 performance so far (per core per day)

I have an FX8150 on liquid running Win7 X64, but not the liquid kit you can buy with it, it's a waterblock and drop-in kit. I was not real happy with it when I first got it because even OC'd (4.1 Ghz) it could not keep up with a 1090T running linux. Mine is also now being used to feed a Radeon 7970, and for that the extra cores come in handy.

Thanks guys, Wife gave me permission to build a couple of new puters next month and I'm just trying to decide what to build within a reasonable amount. I want either 2 quads or 2 octos, I just haven't made up my mind yet.

    Hi Terry,

Take the Octo's! I will show you why next post, but it boils down to the fact that they are twice as productive -in general, not always- as the quads.
The Piledrivers run a bit cheaper than the Bulldozers and a FX-8350 is just as expensive as a FX-8150 (here).

Thanks Dirk, That's pretty much exactly what I was wanting to know since all they are going to do is set and crunch 24/7.

One 64 core setup would be pretty nice

Ramjet and I each have one of these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813130649

We have had decent luck with MSI so far and they have been good when we had trouble under warranty. A board like this is nice if you get into GPU crunching for things like Wold Community Grids Help Conquer Cancer project that runs on GPU. I have 3 cards in mine and in the right case may be able to get 4. If this is more then your looking to spend they have one with 2 slots for GPUs : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813130677
