Socket FM2+ is coming to a store near to you this winter!

Though Kaveri hasn't hatched yet, its nest has already been prepared by most Tier A motherboard makers:

Asrock has released no less than nine brand new FM2+ babies, ranging from the full-size ATX FM2A88X Extreme6+, FM2A88X Extreme4+, FM2A88 Pro+ and FM2A55 Pro+; the μATX FM2A88M Extreme4+, FM2A88M-HD+ and FM2A75M Pro4+ to the FM2A88X-ITX+, an ITX board as the name already suggests. Note that there are no less than seven A88X mobo's! The motherboards from Asrock have lost their cheap looks of former days, let's hop the performance is on par with the new looks, which are quite good.

ASUS also has seven new boards: Three μATX mobo's with the A55B chipset, the other four have the A88X chipset, two of the being full ATX size, the A88X-PRO being the top model at the moment. They've left their lovely black-and-blues mobo color scheme for black-and gold which -on the lower end mobos- gives a less apealing look than I am used from ASUS. The top mobo's shine though (also literally).

Gigabyte has chosen for the dark side after their blue period and offers -so far- four full-size A88X based ATX mobo's for the FM2+ platform and three μATX boards, the GA-F2A88XM-D3H being their best one (having four RAM slots). The FM2+ Sniper board goes in Germany for a little less than 100 Euro's at the moment, the GA-F2A88XM-D3H goes for less than 60 Euros!

MSI has planned no less than ten FM2+ boards, the A88X-G43 being their top model so far. MSI is the only company that has announced boards with the A78 chipset so far. Judged by their naming (with a 'M' after the chipset name) six of these mobo's will be of the μATX format. No iTX so far from MSI.

I'm in a turmoil at the moment: should I buy a regular FM2 board with a Trinity or Richland, or save some extra money and wait for Kaveri?
Or do both? Or replace my Socket 1155 i3 with a dito i7 now when they are still available and go for Kaveri when it comes out? Or....

I hate to say it but I love my 3770k even at stock speed on air it's putting out more production on Asteroids and Moo than the FX8350 on water and OC'd.

The only problem I have with the i7 is that it blows my entire IT budget for the rest of the year. With an A10 I can buy an HD 7790 as well, or the top ASUS FM2 mobo.
On the other hand, if I want to stay at the #7 team position I have to face the fact that you are gaining on me at an alarming rate.....gotta have more cores -and more video cards!

And no intention of running at clock speeds here either! I did not buy a Z68 mobo for clock speed!

Might migrate the surplus i3 to a Z77 mobo for my son, had this in mind:

Might want to ask his opinion about the color scheme first though!

There is matching memory in poison-green...

I don't know whether it has been noticed by any of you lot,
but Asrock, ASUS, Gigabyte and now MSI too have shown
a lot more activity in the FM2 and FM2+ boards lately than
in AM3+, where ASUS -to the best of my knowledge- had
the latest new board with their Sabertooth 990FX/Gen3 R2.0,
    or am I wrong?
