AMD Game News: The AMD Radeon HD 7990 is the world’s fastest graphics card

Here at AMD we are obsessed with gaming performance and graphics cards. For the lot of us, it’s more than “a job”… It’s deeply personal. That is to say: when we shut off the lights and go home, we’re hardware enthusiasts, gamers and content creators in our own right. It’s that kind of consuming passion that makes us so excited to bring word of our latest product: the AMD Radeon™ HD 7990 graphics processor.

The cooler alone is worth having to quieten your own card. The massive computing power -of two HD 7970s combined- is astounding.
If I win the lottery I'll buy at least one of these!

    Impressive numbers
8.2 TFLOPS on a single card.
and with 6GB DDR5 it has more RAM on board than most of the world's PCs
It will be interesting to see how it fares on the end of a power meter.
    The FPS is outstanding.
I expect it to be out of my price range for a while, but I know numerous people that will snap this up for their gaming rigs as soon as they can.

Tech PowerUp have just published what I think is a very comprehensive 31 page review and comparison.
It is worth looking at very closely.
For gamers, it will depend on which games you prefer and what resolution you like to play at.

The card has some FPS performance issues with some games (the first few in the review).
Given it's excellent performance at the highest resolutions this may be more to do with the graphics optimizations available in those games than the card.
However, I was disappointed at the end with the performance per watt, noise comparison and performance per dollar comparison.
The low noise volume was touted on the AMD page, but this is not playing out in the tests.
(looking at the comparisons though I am very pleased with my HD7770 purchases. Thanks to Jason for the nudge in that direction)

But the outright performance comparison speaks volumes.
The price point seems to make sense for a 'limited edition', otherwise I'm puzzled.

You should draw your own conclusions.

Some interesting info on the next gen of AMD's graphics cards. If this comparison is correct, the new cards have quite a boost over the 7970s!

As a cruncher I am mainly interested in GFlops SP and DP, and how much it draws from the wall socket.
Sadly, they have left those figures out in the review.
