    I would be satisfied with something like that Dirk it sounds like a great system. The only problem I can see would be that the employees of the TVA (elec. co.) would picket my house for non-use of their product. That thing strangles the elec. use and still produces, that's great!

    While I am afraid that the Dutch Narcotica brigade will invade my house based upon the fact that I use 4 times the amount of electricity as compared to my neighbours, and a high energy use could mean a pot plantation in the attic. Nothing there but old computer junk. I mean real old, Atari ST, Apple IIe, 486 mobos, old IBM keyboards, ball-mice -some even with COM connectors-, etc.

    Yup, that's a mouse with a COM connector. I even got one that has 'Microsoft' on it.

    Good luck and keep us posted of your findings!
    What has become the CPU of the new build, and on what mobo did you decide? Will your new shed become a den of Sabertooth cubs?

    Dirk,

    I went with these:

    Intel Core i7-3770K Ivy Bridge 3.5GHz (3.9GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 4000 BX80637I73770K
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819116501

    ASUS Maximus V FORMULA LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Extended ATX Intel Motherboard
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131854

    with the SSD, 16GB RAM, Unsure on the GPU yet I want something good on Moo and 7000 series won't do. Looking for a pair of 6970's or 5870's.

    If I was smart I'd set up rack systems in the shed. But. I have to get it built first.

    Hi Terry,

    There is a thread on the Moo! forum about a new OpenCL Moo! application, that should run on the HD 7000 series using the latest BOINC and which will probably need an app_config.xml file in order to work well.
    Code:
    <app_config>
       <app>
          <name>DNETC</name>
          <max_concurrent>2</max_concurrent>
          <gpu_versions>
              <gpu_usage>.5</gpu_usage>
              <cpu_usage>1.0</cpu_usage>
          </gpu_versions>
        </app>
    </app_config>

    Yea Dirk I had read that thread but if you look at the top computers there aren't any 7000 series in the top 100 and I look fairly often and haven't seen one there yet. Ill keep looking and find some 5870'S or 6970's I do have a line on a 6970 so if I can find another I'll pick those up.

    Here's something I find a little strange, it would seem the the AMD 8350 is throwing out 8 Simap wu's about 5 minutes faster than the Intel I7. They have very similar systems as far as boards, drives, and memory go. But, the 6870 in the Intel seems to run better for Moo but just slightly.
