    According to Tom's Hardware top model Radeons work best in Intel systems and top model nVidia works best in AMD systems.

    That is strange. It seems to be proving out on the I7 with a 6870.

    Terry, I think you are on the right track there. I would only chop off some of the cost from the SSD by switching it to a regular cheap HDD (SSD is awesome but gives no more credits for pure crunching), and instead apply that extra money in a more powerful mobo that has 3 or maybe 4 PCIe 3.0 slots. That Asus one only has 1 PCIe 3.0 and 1 PCIe 2.0 slots. Unless you have a specific use in mind for the 3 PCI slots I don't think it's worth it.
