Updates and Thank Yous
Hi crunchers!I just wanted to take a second to thank all of our volunteers for the awesome crunching over the past couple of month. Since March, we've completed 75 jobs across several different research lines (e.g., fatigue studies, integrated learning models, ideal observer and attention tasks) authored in multiple programming languages (e.g., C/C++, Lisp, Python, R). That amounted to 26K days worth of computation completed in ~70 days!!! . It could not have gotten done without your support and resources. We would also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge our top volunteers (by recent average credit):
  • 1.[AF>WildWildWest] RLDF 2. tempo6663. Shaman4. STE\/E5. GATE

While our researchers have been busy creating, running, and analyzing models, our developers have been adding new features and extending support. Here's a few things we've been up to:
  • Integrated web data visualizations for researchers
  • Tools for running and evaluating decision trees (i.e. Fast & Frugal Trees) on volunteer and parallel resources as part of a new research line
  • Support for models written in Java
  • Bayesian model support in the R statistical language Updated server to lastest version of BOINC source tree

And here's some tasks on the horizon:
  • Support for Matlab models
  • Project descriptions associated with each job
  • Rolling average runtime calculations for more precisely targeting workunits to one hour for tasks with variable runtimes Server distribution to Wright State University for faster download/uploads, more system memory and disk space, and better CPU utilization

Please let us know if you have any thoughts, requests, or questions! And thanks again!-Tom
