So I go log onto Collatz and there I see stuff about intel gpu's........... ????? Are they talking about the gpu that's part of the intel multi-core cpu's???
Dumb question maybe I guess, but curious. lol

No, that's not a dumb question. The Socket 1155 Ivy Bridge -*NOT* Sandy Bridge- and Socket 1150 Haswell CPU's have a crunching capable GPU in their CPUs (except when their designation ends with 'P').
For those of us that have invested in Socket 2011: nana-nananah! Those pricy CPUs have no IGP onboard. Another reason to stay away from this overpriced platform...
But when you have enough money for Socket 2011, you can fill the PCIe lanes with whatever you want I guess.

So do the gpu's have any performance to the like for collatz?
Might this be one of them? http://boinc.thesonntags.com/collatz...?hostid=114835
Yes, the second part of the Extra processors says it all:
NVIDIA Quadro K2000M (2048MB) driver: 311.00 OpenCL: 1.01, INTEL Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 (1624MB) OpenCL: 1.01
As to how well they perform on Collatz it is too early to say, WuProp has no data yet.

Well my main question was answered in that I was really just curious if they were making graphics cards other than just adding the graphics processor to their cpu chips. :-)
Those were the days....:Intel 740-8Mb.jpg, yes, 8 MB on a card was enough! Can't crunch with them of course and very mediocre cards at best, the Intel 740s, but they have their own wikipedia page.
These have Intel printed on them too:Xeon_Phi_Family.jpg, but though they fit in a PCIe slot, they lack a video port (but they sure can crunch)

ahhhhhh........................................... .... horsepower. :-)
Quite a price tag though. Are any dc projects offering clients for their three models of the xeon phi that you are aware of? double precision too.... yum yum
Not that I know off, and at those prices I am not interested! I hope AMD comes with an Opteron FirePro that can do about the same for considerably less money.
For the time being it makes more sense to invest in either a HD 7990 or a nVidia GeForce Titan, but these monsters eat power.
The bugaboo is that until you get into the "professional" duty cards you just get crippled double precision cards, ala Nvidia. And yup the intel cards are way more than I care to spend too. But one is allowed to drool a little! lol The 7990 and Titan also will turn a car garage at the North Pole into the tropics.... And I imagine the intel gpu's will too. I have one 6870 that makes my ears feel like I'm back working on the flight deck launching jets in full afterburner -- both in noise and heat. I like the output from it but it's just too much heat, etc.
