Researchers Break Supercomputing Record while Advancing Cancer Research

    via DASHBURST, Lauren Mobertz writes:

Scientists at ETH Zurich and IBM Research in Switzerland have set a new record in fluid dynamics supercomputing through its simulation of bursting bubbles. The simulation could lead to advances in kidney stone and cancer treatment as well as improvements in high pressure fuel injector technology.

While I think it's great that they are doing progress on their research I believe the title is a bit exaggerated. I admire their Sequoia supercomputer, with its 1.5 million cores, but supercomputing records have been above that for a long time. Now they may be correct if you narrow it down only to "fluid dynamics supercomputing", but still it's a stretch.
