Windows is prone for that. Certain Input/Output operations like online, or even with a cd or 3.5'' disk kinda locks the system until it is finished...

Good point, writing to a floppy does lock the system , I assume to assure no errors.
Do HT(HyperThreading) systems have this same thing/problem? as to me, a true HT should be able to do both at same time.
Add:
And is it single or dual cpu dependant?
you want to buy a USB pen like i have, it is so quick and easy to use. also being USB2 it is very quick transfer, mine was £20ish and holds 256mb which is more than enough. It is also one of the smallest available - if i ever find the drivers for me webcam i will post a pic3.5'' disk kinda locks the system
Yes I agree. I have myself a USB memory of 256 mb. Depending of what you will use it to it can be enough. I should back up my files and 256 MB was not enough. Better ta have 512 mb.Originally Posted by Empty_5oul

Yes, but the question is about system lock-up and floppies.
Is it possible to boot from usb disk with win98 setup disk info on it?
Meckano!
I don't think you can boot from a USB memory and have Win 98. Both you and I myself know that a boot require a floppy disc or the system CD if it is so you mean?

I have found a setting for folks with computers not always connected to the net, I guess mostly if you changed the settings I did in a previous post in this thread.
7) Dialup-link detection ==> Dial-up detection ONLY mode
If you don't it tries to connect ever 5 seconds or so and robs over 10% of cpu during each of those periods.
Edit: key sequence
2-6-7,
on my win98se, 2-6-9 (i think because I have the proxy set up and must change my number of choices.
