    August 2014 competitions

After the success of the July competitions -AMD Users scored double#1 on both Seti Beta challenges (thanks to B Johansson)- it is now time for what August brings to us.
August 2014 seems to start with less than the usual challenges, if you have BOINCstats as sole source of information: just the SIMAP August 2014 Scramble.
But there is more: the Seti.Germany WoW! Event, PrimeGrid challenges, WCG challenges, etc.

August 07 to August 14 - SIMAP August 2014 Scramble
BOINCstats organizes the perhaps last ever SIMAP August Scramble, as SIMAP seems to have developed their own ASICs -or at least their own special tailored hardware.

August 12 to August 14 - Perseid Shower Challenge
From August 12th 18:00:00 UTC until August 14th 18:00:00 UTC we will have a 2 day challenge running The Riesel Problem Sieve. More information coming soon!

    August 15 to August 29 - SETI@Home Wow!-Event 2014
37 years after the discovery of the Wow! Signal on August 15th, 1977, which was received from the direction of constellation Sagittarius, it is time to honor the mother of all BOINC projects.
Therefore SETI.Germany is calling for the third SETI@Home-Wow!-Event from 15.08.2014 to 29.08.2014. Anyone, who wishes to participate, has to register on this site. More information about the Wow!-Signal can be found here and about the SETI project here. The current BOINC software and installation instructions can be found on the homepage of SETI@home: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/. BTW: Optimized clients can be found here. To collect pending credits before race start is not only allowed but welcome! The whole purpose is to do our utmost and work hard for SETI@home and thus provide invaluable support. So don't be afraid to start crunching for SETI@home with all of your available CPUs & GPUs before the race starts. And who knows, maybe it will be you who finds the new Wow! Signal which will not just be going down in grid computing history! SETI.Germany wishes you a lot of fun with the third SETI@Home-Wow!-Event.

We ought to pick one that suits us best, judged by our team results we should let Jason1478963 decide what to do.

I'm sorry I didn't get to post earlier as I have been tied up getting a new machine online. I think its to late to sign up for anything MyOnlineTeam created. If vaughan could enter us into whatever he can we could see if we could play some catch up in what is left.

I've just returned to Sydney after driving 3 hours from Canberra and I saw Jason's email.
We are now entered in all those challenges

Thanks for getting us entered in those. I don't show that we joined the team thompson FAAH challenge. Is that something we can join or are we locked out?
There is also show a small teams race we may be able to enter. We have a new toy that needs tested at WCG so it would be nice to see the damage it can do.

A very nice push indeed swhite4784. It looks like a very impressive farm to be adding that kind of boost.

I would love to be able to run it on a monthly basis, but it may be a bit more power hungry then i can afford :P

Swhite4784 - Could you describe what kind of power your running, what it is exactly? I am curious and I bet everyone else is curious too!

Challenge me, or correct me, but don't ask me to die quietly.

…Pursuit is always hard, capturing is really not the focus, it’s the hunt ...
