2008: Demo: SystemK - Life on Air
graphical difficulty: 7-9/10 (seems to run better on nvidia. is probably poorly coded)
design: 7/10 (imo. i really like bright, colorful things)
2009: 4K: Rgba - Elevated
graphical difficulty: 8/10
design: 8/10 (strictly from a graphics to filesize standpoint 9.5/10)
note: probably will trigger antivirus; see comments for windows 7 fix (or run CRINKLER.EXE /recompress input.exe)
if you can get 50+fps with this, you must have a freakin' beast of a machine. is available in 3D in-demo and on youtube.
2008: 4K: Archee - Photon Race 2
graphical difficulty: 11/10
design: 7/10
rayyyyyyytracing!!! also, like the other 4K, could trigger a/v. may have to use CRINKLER.EXE /recompress input.exe if a win7 fix can't be found.
Thanks for your selections.
You brightened up an otherwise dreary wet weekend.
It is quite amazing how much they can fit into such small files and very interesting to see where the designers and graphic artists are taking the features.
I watched the You-Tube versions in HD where possible.
Some of those effects and renders are much better than I would have expected.
I haven't seen anything like these for a very long time.
it's interesting to see how long it takes to until the tech shows up in games. i totally can't wait for raytracing quality lighting to show up in games >_< bf3 is the closest i've seen yet.
2014: 64K: mercury - The Timeless
graphical difficulty: 8/10
design: 9/10
note: IMO, this goes to 11/10. 85% of it works on AMD 14.12 Omega drivers. there's one scene that doesn't, but IMO, the best scenes are working
2015: farbrausch - fr-078: Sweet night dreams
graphical difficulty: 12/10
design: 5/10
note: this one is a bit rough, but i think just one guy did it. and it's graphically AMAZING. also, maybe 60% will run on AMD. should run fine on nvidia. and this one is pretty
note2: if you're using Chrome, download from Mirrors: scene.org. for some odd reason, the main URL is flagged for malware.
2015: Fairlight - Ziphead
graphical difficulty: 10/10
design: 8/10
note: a) EPILEPSY WARNING b) it seems like we're pretty close to realtime clubbing/rave graphics (opposed to prerendered). however, i think this just gets around 15fps on an R9 290 c) if you're Not Into That Scene, you may or may not find this very interesting.
2015: Fairlight - Photon
graphical difficulty: 10/10
design: 9.5/10
note: if you wanted to see an even better version of Unreal Engine 4: Paris Apartment, this is for you. also, should run perfectly on NV. a bit of weird artifacting on AMD
last one is 10/10
the sparks are worthy of that.
I was honing the mower blades on the bench grinder yesterday so I have fresh recall of how the sparks appear to go through an intensity burst when they hit another surface.
Very cool.
