AMD cpu question

ok, i'm in the market for a dual core and i've narrowed it down to a couple of cpus, basically they're identical in price. now, this will be used for crunching only,one of my farm boxen.

dual core Opteron 165 Denmark or a dual core 3800+ Manchester?

reasons for which is the better of the two , please.

Probably the Opteron...

Opteron has the 2x1MB L2 instead of the 2x512 L2

although the 3800 is 200mhz faster

the opty has a lower vcore (if that makes any difference)

I know that when I do an upgrade, it will be an Opteron... I hear that they are awesome..

I'd go for the Opty too... I think the extra L2 cache should compensate for the less 200MHz.

And then if you overclock it, it'll be a dream

Definately the Opteron, it will run rings round the 3800.

I have a 2 way Opteron 248, stock, and it chugs along nicely!
