Danish, I don't advise you to do that seeing that you're well placed on the rankings. Changing host id's like I did for Ramjet (and will do for myself tonight), resets the workunits and credits back to zero. That's what vaughan was talking about.
In both my case and Ramjet(Jason) there wasn't much of a loss, we both had computer problems right at start and didn't get many credits, but you are way ahead and running well.

Are you sure you want to change host id and lose the credits you've gained so far?

Neo the problem was was I didnt have a choice their was no way to catch up with them with a 32bit systema nd using a different OS changed my computer id. Now I am no expert but can I merge pcs and it put all the credits over to the new one?

Actually shotgunner101, I can rescue your credits, they're still in the system. But I don't know if the rest of the gang would be pleased with it. It would be breaking the rule. Mine and Ramjet's credits are lost for good by now, they've been recycled.

But on my behalf I wouldn't mind getting your credits back, and making it the rule to safekeep old credits before host switching. It wasn't initially thought that people would have to change hosts during contest.

Guys... please leave me your opinions... what should I do? Rescue credits or keep the rule?

Please people let me do it its the ONLY chance I have at catching the 2 leaders and I plan to sell the computer parts for a car if I win because I am 18 and still no car lol. PLEASE!!!!!! I spent 2 weeks on those 6k credits!!!!

I feel partially to blaim for his decision to switch OS, so I don't oppose the merge. It's obviously the same system - just a different OS.

As an avid fan of AMD Processors to rush out and sell this perfectly fine tuned machine for a mode of transportation. I am not in agreement for your upgrade and moving your points values. Your comments about the car have infuriated me. I don't get mad easy nor do I voice my dislikes very much, but that comment hurts me to my soul. !

See guys I am a avid AMD fan also but its either egt a car and get a job now or wait 6 months for me to build up the money without a job and then yet again not be able to go to college for another semester. And the main reason to get the job was to have side money to spend on hardware upgrades (phenmon processer,new mobo,new graphics cards,etc) But like I was trying to say what other use would them be to me when I have no money to even buy my own food right now my mom buys my food because I dont got a job........ Look guys its fine if you don't like what I would do with them but if I sold them to a home based computer store I know they would end up in perfectly good systems. Sorry to upset you guys . please let me have the credits though I spent 2 weeks on them and I have had my pc crunching 24/7 ever since 6 days before the contest....

And mesfer dont blame urself when you mentioned the 64bit system thing I went and had to install linux or else I knew I would lose. I just hope the amd people can see here I am an avid amd fan too and have NEVER used an Intel!!!!!!!!! I have been in this team for alittle over a year and crunched 200000 all from this machine so you can tell I am a cruncher aswell....... Look guys if you were in my position and for 2 years thought you would be getting a car 2 times in a row now the first time my mom was going to give me her car but a month before I was supposed to get it it got a cracked block. Next car I worked for a lady and helped tear her old trailer apart took 3 weeks to get it all done and she wouldn't give me the car and she couldn't pay me because she didn't make enough off of the copper. PLEASE let me have the creds PLEASE!!!

A couple thoughts in passing here. I have been following this thread since it started as it has really been an enjoyable race to watch, up until the car/point issue cropped up anyway.

When I read shotguner101's note it was really rather a discouraging thing to me, not so much that a young guy is desperate for a car, but that if he did win the prize, it would be going towards something that the prize donor did not have in mind when he/she offered it as a gift/prize. The requirement that participants be an AMD_Users team member for a while preceding the event implies that the intent of the race and the winning prize was for it to go towards helping a team member achieve a crunching asset to be utilized for the benefit of that member and thus also help the team. The donor could have just given it to the local Salvation Army or other charitable entity if he/she was just trying to get rid of a system per se.

The second discouraging issue is that all the participants were given good faith rules and conditions at the beginning of the race. Other participants have lost points, yet went on participating in the race in good faith. It is only fair to them that the rules are upheld and an exception not be made for shotgunner101. Everyone has a tale of woe and misfortune, but everyone doesn't add a bunch of drama over it. It's called playing by the rules, and I've got to side with Vaughan and Nflight. Others did not get their points back so neither should shotgunner101.
